I was impressed by the immensity and number of high-risers growing out of the ground by the dozens in cities like Beijing and Shanghai. I could not help but wonder who would fill all that new space. At the same time the difference between urban structures and fragile bodies were striking to me. My first visit to China significantly influenced my perception of the body in relation to the urban environment.
