‘Material Encounters’ which has been developed as a video work rather than a life performance, in close collaboration with dancer Miri Lee, composer Jongkag Park and video editor Florian Krepcik, explores the increasingly fine line between tangible and digital spaces.
Stand-by, newly released from my archives, belongs to the first series of photographic works that explore the relation between subject and object and the role of women in advertising. This work features my daughter Malaya who appears in many of my early works. She wears an obi that used to belong to her Japanese great-grandmother, as mini skirt.
Petra Poelzl (Artistic and Managing Director of Kunstpavillon & Neue Galerie Innsbruck) visited the artist Margret Wibmer in her studio in Amsterdam to learn more about Wibmer’s artistic practice, as well as the artist’s most recent video work “Relay” that was released with the eponymous book publication of the same title, published by Vfmk – Verlag für moderne Kunst, Vienna and the Collectors Edition.
