About:

You will be introduced to artistic practices by renown artists around the globe. Together, we will explore how these artists translate personal observations, intrinsic knowledge, experiences and concerns into impactful works of art. We will discuss the media, tools, methodologies and strategies they use to create awareness of pressing issues and how they engage and empower audiences. Course content will include works by, among others, Theaster Gates, Carolina Caycedo, Dawoud Bey, Arahmayani Feisal and in collaboration with the US based Institute for Cultural Activism International, up-close interviews with internationally recognised artists from ‘The Tuning Fork’.
