Studio Margret Wibmer

On view will be a selection of works, including my video works ‘Relay’ and ‘Material Encounters’.
Hella Berent and Margret Wibmer explore relations between bodies, objects, and spaces. The conceptual-poetic works of both artists are characterized by openness and a quiet oddity. This encourages the rethinking of established culture-dependent conventions. Thus, sensually and with ease, the two juxtaposed artistic positions refer to current issues such as feminism, (body)identity, or cultural affiliation.

‘Material Encounters’ which has been developed as a video work rather than a life performance, in close collaboration with dancer Miri Lee, composer Jongkag Park and video editor Florian Krepcik, explores the increasingly fine line between tangible and digital spaces.
Stand-by, newly released from my archives, belongs to the first series of photographic works that explore the relation between subject and object and the role of women in advertising. This work features my daughter Malaya who appears in many of my early works. She wears an obi that used to belong to her Japanese great-grandmother, as mini skirt.
