Margret Wibmer EVOCATIVE DISRUPTIONS

Margret Wibmer is an Amsterdam based international artist with Austrian roots and lived in New York for many years before moving to Amsterdam. Wibmer works in various media such as photography, performance art, sculpture and video. In her work she explores relationships between bodies, objects and spaces, using ambiguity and the principle of chance as a method to deconstruct processes, norms and values deeply embedded in our societies. Particularly in her performances in which the audience become involved as actors.

This exhibition shows a retrospective view of her artistic practice, photographic, sculptural and video works, including early works from the 1990’s and some of her signature works that have never been exhibited in The Netherlands. Wibmer’s works have been exhibited and performed at Palais de Tokyo in Paris, Nishida Kitaro Museum of Philosophy in Japan, KAI 10, Lumen Travo Gallery, Bradwolff Projects, and many other venues. Her most recent performances include ‘Time Out’ at the Oude Kerk Amsterdam, ‘We do surfing the apocalypse’ during Upstate Art Weekend New York in collaboration with the Institute for Cultural Activism International and ‘Salon the Amour’ which was performed at Kultur- und Gemeinschaftshaus in Wattens very recently. This exhibition is made possible by Stichting Amsterdam Art and Capital C Amsterdam.
