Description

This artist publication is published as a limited and numbered edition of 300. Newsprint, broadsheet, 40 pages. This an artwork in it’s own right and is directly related to Margret Wibmer’s research and long-term art project ‘Salon d’Amour’, a series of performances developed in collaboration with art institution and others.

‘Salon d’Amour’ explores love as a transformative power in the context of a polarised world and invites us to reimagine our relationships with ourselves and with others. The poems, love letters, excerpts from novels and guest contributions by artists and writers included in this publication, take the reader into transient spaces that invite an exploration of love as an antidote to its commodified version.

Paired with the masked performance of the same name, developed collaboratively with institutions worldwide, this project engages the public through written and spoken language. Wearable masks, featured in the publication, symbolise various facets of love relations—distance, darkness, mystery, fear, and intimacy. These masks act as props, bridging the gap between self and others, turning spoken words into a collective, dynamic journey during a ritualistic and multifaceted performance.

The publication includes loving contributions by Marianna Maruyama, Mohamedou Ould Slahi and Camila Sposati. These contemporary voices introduce new visions from their different cultural perspectives and personal experiences.
