About:

You will be introduced to artistic practices by renown artists around the globe. Together, we will explore how these artists translate personal observations, intrinsic knowledge, experiences and concerns into impactful works of art. We will discuss the media, tools, methodologies and strategies they use to create awareness of pressing issues and how they engage and empower audiences. Course content will include works by among others Carolina Caycedo, Dawoud Bey, Latifah Echakhch, Theaster Gates and, in collaboration with the US based Institute for Cultural Activism International, up-close interviews with internationally recognised artists and filmmakers from ‘The Tuning Fork’.

Margret Wibmer is an internationally exhibited artist, participatory art producer and art educator, with a broad knowledge in contemporary arts and breaking developments in the field. Many years of teaching experience in The Netherlands and beyond. Since 2020 adjunct lecturer at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in Singapore. In 2022 she joined the Institute for Cultural Activism International (USA) as collaborator and board member. More info on the about page.
